First ever grant from Rotary International to a local Scottish project presented by Longniddry and District Club
Marion Taylor on behalf of Maggie’s Centre recently received a cheque for £9000 from Longniddry & District Rotary President John McPhee who was accompanied at the presentation by past presidents Harry Wallace and Alex Muir together with rotarian Iain Stewart.
The Longniddry Club recently received approx £9,000 ($15,000 US) from The Rotary Foundation in order to undertake a project with Maggie’s Centre, Edinburgh. The funds given included contributions from the local club, along with our international partner club - Rotary Club of Los Angeles, USA and aims to benefit those who rely on Maggie’s Centre for support and help in their fight against cancer.
This is the first such grant ever awarded to a Rotary Club for a local Scottish project. The Rotary project provides state of the art imac computers and new furniture for the centre along with funds to provide staff training costs in order to further benefit the local community.
